I want this so bad! This would be cool for Mason too! Check it out…
Ok… so I know that I have been slacking off with my blog. Things have been crazy around here! I need to get into a routine with this and stop dragging my feet. I started by changing the layout for the Christmas season. Other than that, I figure that I will catch you all up to speed on what has been going on since the last time I blogged… I know it was a month ago, don’t remind me.
Family… We are doing great! This has been a hard few weeks. Amy and I found out that we were to have another baby in October only to find out in November that she had miscarried. It was a real sad time. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t think about what could have been, but with that said we are trusting in God’s plan for our family. We also bought a new house. It is great! We have enough room for all of us, plus room for entertaining and youth gatherings. The kids are doing awesome! Abby loves her new room and is getting ready for her orchestra, chorus, and church Christmas programs. Mason is starting to crawl and loves his walker on the hardwood floor with enough room to run.
Drums… We changed that drums at the church to a hybrid kit. I got the idea from Andrew Dodson, the drummer for the Josh Martin Band. I have integrated thy kick, high hat, and a cymbal with electric snare, toms and cymbals. It sounds really good and has a great fill. We are still working on some of the bugs, but all in all it is sweet.
Youth… The youth are doing great. Tonight we are having a Youth Bowling night. We have been mixing it up on Wednesday nights this fall. We have been having a short time of worship then breaking up into two groups: The Grind and The Pulse. The Grind is made up of 7th – 9th grade students and the Pulse is made up of 10th – 12th graders. We are currently in the middle of a discussion on Friends and how they can influence you and why it is important to choose your friends wisely. December 19th we will be having a large group time with Butch Vernon as our guest speaker.
Culture… I have wanted to comment on several things that have been going on in the news lately. If you haven’t heard, a Georgia court over turned a law that prohibited a sex offender from living closer than 1000 yard from a school or daycare. This has major implications for the whole country and we better be paying attention. The other is Massachusetts Is considering making a law that would ban spanking your own child in public or private. I don’t care what you think about spanking, if these legislators have their way there will be no way to keep children accountable. It isn’t surprising coming from a state that was the first to make gay marriage legal or have the richest part (Back Bay, Boston) of their biggest city built on a landfill. Alex beat me to blogging on this issue, so if you would like you can go to his blog and spend an hour reading it.
I don’t know about this guy Theology, but He is the best drummer of all time! His name is Neil Peart and is the drummer of a group RUSH. Some of you may remember them from the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. They now have a new CD out. I haven’t heard it, so I can’t give you my opinion. I saw them once in concert and they were awesome! The 10 minute drum solo was worth the ticket price.
